Announcing “Go-live” in Roanoke County, Virginia

3 min read

GOLDEN, Colo., Sept. 4, 2013 – Locution Systems, Inc. (www.locution.com), the provider of the PrimeAlert® Fire Station Alerting (FSA) System for fire and EMS departments, today announced that its fire station alerting system has been deployed and gone live in Roanoke County, Virginia. Locution Systems’ fire station alerting technology is installed in 13 Roanoke County fire stations. The City of Roanoke, Virginia also uses Locution Systems’ PrimeAlert® Fire Station Alerting System.

Roanoke County has deployed Locution Systems’ IP-based fire station alerting, including automated 911 dispatching, station strobe lighting, red lighting to preserve night vision, LED readers boards, and Rip-and-Run printers. In addition, all Roanoke County fire stations have been configured for Locution’s three-area zoning, i.e. the Locution Fire Station Alerting System will precisely route fire station alerting to one of three designated areas in the station:  alerting for fire responders, alerting for rescue responders, and alerting to the battalion chief in the station.

Locution Systems’ Fire Station Alerting System automatically will generate a specific alert tone, and then announce the dispatch information via a clear, easy-to-understand, accent-neutral computer voice in the Roanoke County fire stations.

Fire and EMS departments implement the Locution Fire Station Alerting System to achieve three main operational improvements:

  1.  Faster Response Times-The Locution Fire Station Alerting System helps speed up response times to fires and  medical emergencies.
  2.  Reduced Stress for 911 Dispatchers-The automated voice alerting portion of the Locution Fire Station Alerting System reduces stress for the 911 dispatching staff by allowing the current staff to handle more call volume with the same staff, particularly during times of high 911 center call volume.
  3.  Reduced Stress For First Responders-Locution Systems’ modular array of fire station alerting technologies can reduce stress and sleep deprivation for first responders.

“Locution Systems’ Fire Station Alerting System will help Roanoke County improve their response times, and reduce stress for 911 dispatchers and first responders,” noted Glenn Neal, Locution Systems’ founder, president, and chief technology officer. “Roanoke County has had the benefit of watching how Locution Systems’ Fire Station Alerting System has positively impacted the City of Roanoke’s emergency response efforts, and now they will have Locution Systems’ fire station alerting technology in their own fire stations.”
