2026 Locution User Group Schedule of Classes & Events
The 2026 Locution User Group Conference Class Schedule consists of all-attendee instructional classes. In the past, we’ve had two separate tracks for basic and advanced classes, but some attendees’ comments indicated a desire to start with basic classes and then immediately follow with the advanced classes at the same User Group. We believe this request makes a lot of sense, so we’ve implemented a single track for this year’s user group conference. As always, we’ll be listening again to this year’s comments for suggestions for next year.

2025 Advancements Update: Innovations Status – Glenn Neal and Tom Wultich
Class Description: In this kick-off session for the user conference, Locution Systems President / CTO Glenn Neal will be providing updates and information on the status of Locution tech advances that were announced at the 2025 Locution User Group Conference. This will include live demonstrations of Locution Configuration Manager in use for various customers.

Troubleshooting the Top 5 Most Common Technical Issues – Tony Vasquez
Class Description: Tony will discuss the top 5 most common technical issues, as well as how to best approach and resolve each.

Locution and Cybersecurity – Glenn Neal and Matt Crabtree
Class Description: Cybersecurity has never been more important, and the threats appear to be accelerating. This session will review some of the basics of cyber threats and best practices for cybersecurity.

Tone & Voice Basics – Michelle Taylor and Tara Gover
Class Description: Our technical specialists will explain how to control tones and voice in the PrimeAlert system, including:
• The basics of tones and voice in a Locution FSA system;
• 3 different ways to configure voice and tones (from the most basic to the most versatile).

Advanced Tone and Voice – Glenn Neal
Class Description: This advanced class will take a deeper look into the features, functions, and configurability for tones and voice. We will start with the three parts to Locution’s Advanced Voice Configuration related to the incoming AVA string sent from CAD:
1) Defining announcement preambles for each incoming field (e.g. incidents, street address, units…). We will also discuss single- and multiple-field preamble options.
2) Defining how each field is to be announced. This section will cover how the 15 different numeric announcement types can be defined, along with how simple a, b, c letters, and phonetics can be announced, in order to deal with vocalizing apartment numbers or specific areas.
3) Defining the resulting field or unit ordering. We’ll cover how separate ordering rules can be defined for radio, stations, or move-ups.
There are many new tone and voice capabilities that have been added in recent years, thanks to customer feedback and requests. To that end, we’ll cover:
1) the use of complex aliases;
2) the ability to define the use of specific tones and channel or radio node to use;
3) configuration of repeating announcements or ordering of dispatch information per an agency’s preferences.

How to Review Log Files for Troubleshooting – Tony Vasquez and Tara Gover
Class Description: Our technical support experts will explore how to review Locution PrimeAlert log files. They will provide insights on what to look for in your log files, which will help you diagnose and resolve technical issues more quickly.

Customer Presentations / Interactive Sessions – Moderated by Matt Crabtree
Class Description: Based upon the requests we’ve received from previous conference attendees, we’ve added this new session. We plan to include presentations from customers using the Locution FSA system, as well as host a moderated, interactive discussion where attendees can ask questions and provide suggestions to their fellow attendees.

Locution Advancements Coming in 2027 – Glenn Neal
Class Description: The next of the two Locution major advancements provided each year will be announced in this session. These advancements will take the PrimeAlert system into the next level of efficiency, functionality, and ease of use.

Technical Session on Tier 2 / Tier 3 Radio Backup – Gary Christiansen
Class Description: We are offering this session based upon requests from last year’s attendees. This “Nuts & Bolts” technical session will include a technical explanation and real-time demonstration of the Locution hardware elements used for Tier 2 / Tier 3 radio backup. We’ll also provide a procedural document to quickly check hardware function by LED indication. An overview of a new Day/Night radio monitor hardware configuration and associated software to enhance Tier 2 / Tier 3 Radio backup operation will be covered as well.

Health & Wellness Series: Hearing Loss in the Fire Service – Courtney DeWinter
Class Description: Hearing loss in the fire service is a massive problem that affects a significant number of first responders nationwide. In this new Health & Wellness Series class, we will cover the magnitude of the problem of hearing loss in the fire service, the ways that hearing loss occurs, and the fire station alerting technologies that can mitigate or prevent hearing loss for first responders.

The Locution Cabinet: Up Close Presentation – Tony Vasquez and Brandon Arndt
Class Description: Our technical experts will take you through a deep dive of the PrimeAlert cabinet, examining the components inside that make it all work. This session has been very popular among both new and longtime customers alike, and will be further enhanced for this year’s conference, based upon customer feedback.

Class Description: Our technical support specialists will cover how to configure various server level functions, included Greater Alarm, Email Alerts, and more.

Class Description: In previous classes, we’ve covered the evolution of AI and the challenges still associated with this new technology. In this year’s session, we will cover some AI basics, and then we will discuss Locution Systems’ plans for integrating AI into the Locution FSA system.
